DDA Compliant Handrails

Haldane has ensured a partially sighted pupil can safely enjoy school life by installing DDA compliant handrails to all stairways in a Scottish School.

Haldane manufactured and installed over 100 linear metres of 50 x 38mm oval handrails with a flat base to accommodate the 90mm accessibility brackets which positioned it 65mm from the wall.

To comply with the DDA regulations the handrails were also stained black to increase visibility against the pale walls and then coated with a hard lacquer for the level of protection required for a school.

Handrail Profile Guide Launched

Haldane UK has launched a handy tool to provide clients with a little bit of inspiration with their downloadable handrail profile sheet.

The one page guide shows no fewer than 24 different handrail profile from the thousands of variations the company has manufactured and supplied over the years.

Haldane UK’s Managing Director, Forrester Adam, explained “The handrail profile guide was originally designed as a tool to help with discussions with clients who were unsure of the style of profile they were after.”

Haldane Secure Woodturning Contract for Hotel Redevelopment

Oak Handrail for Barn Conversion

Haldane has played a key role in the transformation of a barn conversion by manufacturing and installing European Oak Handrail to 3 stairs including the main feature staircase of the conservation project.

The project saw Haldane manufacture and install over 35 linear metres of 60mm diameter handrails in European Oak plus associated transitions, goosenecks and ramps to create a stunning example of continuous handrail.

Custom Spiral Staircase London

Haldane’s expertise in custom spiral staircases was called upon to bail out a London joinery contractor who walked off the site when they found themselves out of their depth and couldn’t complete the project.

The joinery contractor had successfully installed the bespoke kitchen and carried out various works in the refurbishment of the luxury London property including the installation of a standard spiral stair in kit form.

Sapele Handrails for Ocean Liner

Haldane UK has added to its portfolio of cruise ships with the completion of its latest supply only project for the world’s largest ocean liner.

Haldane was approached by the specialist marine fit out team who were appointed to design an extension to the handrail on the ship’s grand staircase which was originally fitted out in 2004.  

The marine fit out company had designed the perfect solution to ensure the metal, glass and joinery works looked part of the original installation, whilst creating a stunning feature finish which drops dramatically to a horizontal volute.

Ash Handrails Like Never Before

Haldane UK‘s revolutionary approach to timber handrails has demonstrated it remains at the forefront of the timber machining sector with its latest project at a luxury Scottish home where it was able to significantly reduce the installation time with 100% precision.

Haldane manufactured and installed an 85mm x 40mm handrail with 200mm timber capping, manufactured from ash and stained to create a stunning silver finish.

Haldane Helical Handrails Shortlisted For Sustain Awards

Haldane UK is delighted to be shortlisted in the Sustain magazine awards with architectural joinery firm Gary Curnick Joinery, for their stunning helical staircase project in South Oxfordshire.

Haldane worked closely with Gary Curnick Joinery throughout the project, manufacturing the bespoke timber balustrade and the sweeping continuous handrail, all supplied in European Oak with a lime finish.
