The project saw Haldane manufacture and install over 35 linear metres of 60mm diameter handrails in European Oak plus associated transitions, goosenecks and ramps to create a stunning example of continuous handrail.
Working with the specialist conservation architect, Haldane also recommended changing the drop ends to rams horns to deliver a finished handrail that met the overall look of the project.

Haldane UK‘s revolutionary approach to timber handrails has demonstrated it remains at the forefront of the timber machining sector with its latest project at a luxury Scottish home where it was able to significantly reduce the installation time with 100% precision.
Haldane manufactured and installed an 85mm x 40mm handrail with 200mm timber capping, manufactured from ash and stained to create a stunning silver finish.
Haldane UK used its state of the art laser technology to survey the project, quite literally with pinpoint accuracy, enabling the handrails section to me recreated in stunning 3D before being programmed and machined.
Haldane UK’s Managing Director, Forrester Adam, explained “We have transformed our survey process to provide a new level of accuracy which allows the handrail to be machined and dry jointed prior to despatch.”
With all sections of the handrail assembled, tested and then dismantled for despatch to site, the installation was made simple and indeed reduced the physical time on site by 50%.
He continued, “Whilst we have always offered a dry jointing service, the surveying technology combined with our 3D modelling software and machining skills produced the most advanced level of precision joinery we have ever delivered. This was demonstrated perfectly in this project where every single component and handrail section slotted into place effortlessly.”
The new survey technology also offers a number of design and production benefits which is allowing Haldane UK to step up production of its handrails for supply only clients and with its full service supply and fit solution.

Haldane UK has manufactured the helical handrails for this stunning helical staircase project in South Oxfordshire in conjunction with architectural joinery firm Gary Curnick Joinery which has been shortlisted in the Sustain magazine awards.
Haldane worked closely with Gary Curnick Joinery throughout the project, manufacturing the bespoke timber balustrade and the sweeping continuous handrail, all supplied in European Oak with a lime finish.
Haldane UK has completed the manufacture and installation of the oak handrail to the staircase as part of the refurbishment of the Prince’s Tower at Stirling Castle.
The 55mm diameter handrail was manufactured from American White Oak and rebated to sit proudly on the structural glazed balustrades to create an impressive entrance into the new exhibition area.
The project involved straight handrails, horizontal curve and spiral handrails which were then mitred and French polished on site to Haldane UK’s superior standard.

Haldane UK has manufactured and installed these stunning American White Oak profiled DDA handrails for a major financial institution that was carrying out refurbishment works to a branch in the North of England.
Faced with existing metalwork which featured a wrapped plastic handrail, the client decided to return the staircase to its former glory by reinstating the timber handrail on the metalwork and installing a wall rail to meet the DDA Handrails regulations.
Haldane manufactured the 75mm x 63mm profile from American White Oak and formed the continuous spiral handrail using its 5 axis CNC technology creating a wreathed open cap to provide the perfect finishing touch.

Haldane UK has added a touch of grandeur to a luxury Essex home with the completion of this superb fantail European Oak staircase featuring 70mm bespoke spindles and a profiled handrail measuring 100 x 75mm.
Working in conjunction with Gary Curnick Joinery, Haldane UK manufactured the spindles, newel posts and profiled handrails to create the fabulous feature staircase and balcony area.
Haldane created a bespoke spindle based on a sketch provided by the client and these were complemented with matching 150mm newel posts.

Haldane UK has completed stair cladding project at a development of luxury houses on the Avenel Estate outside Glasgow with the timber cladding of a concrete stair which has resulted a stunning feature staircase.
Designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Hugh Petter, from Robert Adam Architects and overseen by Thomas Robinson Architects, the Avenel Estate is a collection of six luxurious private dwellings set beautifully in eight acres of secluded gardens and mature woodland.
The initial home includes the pinnacle of quality fixtures and fittings as standard and is finished with a stunning feature staircase manufactured from poured concrete which Haldane clad with plywood and solid American White Oak panels and treads to create the perfect canvas for the bespoke balusters and handrail.
The ornate profiled handrails were manufactured in Sapele and featured a combination of transitions, ninety degree bends and open cap bends with a stop end.
The bespoke designed balusters and newel posts were manufactured from Sapele and painted in white to provide a perfect contrast between the Oak treads and the Sapele handrails.
Haldane also manufactured the oak architraves and bespoke curved mouldings to provide the perfect finishing touch to the overall staircase.
The first floor of the property has a stunning octagonal gallery area that looks down to the entrance hall providing a superb feeling of light and space and features Haldane’s bespoke oak base rail, white painted balusters and profiled Sapele handrails.

Haldane UK have successfully completed a major supply and fit handrail and capping project for a luxury 10 storey apartment development in London.
The project features over 200 linear metres of 48mm diameter bespoke handrails with a flat section to the bottom to sit on wall brackets with ramps, 90 and 180-degree bends
Haldane also manufactured 136 linear metres of timber capping with 24 metres of curved capping with 90 and 180-degree capping bends.
The large capping section measured 208mm x 55mm with a 27mm rebate.
All components were manufactured in American White Oak and coated on-site with a black stain to bring out the grain before being finished with a grey wash to match the interior finishes of the building.

Haldane UK has manufactured and installed this bespoke handrail for a staircase refurbishment in a luxury London property.
Manufactured from FSC® accredited European Oak, Haldane created the bespoke 50 x 58mm profile which was designed to sit on a metal core rail.
To ensure a perfect fit and reduce installation times, Haldane carried out a full 3D digital survey of the core rail to provide an exact profile of the metal balustrade, including any slight twists or issues that otherwise would not be picked up.
Haldane worked closely with the architectural metalworker to achieve the perfect finish using its expertise to manufacture a range of handrail components including ramps, 90 degree bends and open cap ends.
The staircase design featured a number of complex components including two 180 degree raking to raking wreaths and a unique S-Bend which fits flawlessly into the handrail.
