Haldane has completed the manufacture and installation of a continuous Sapele handrail for the refurbishment of a Victorian property in Edinburgh.

The project to extend the property and the staircase into the attic space saw Haldane replicate the profile of the current handrail to ensure it fitted seamlessly into the existing staircase.

Working with intricate metalwork which had been designed to match the existing balustrade, Haldane’s survey team carried out a full 3D Digital survey to take into consideration the slight imperfections caused by on site conditions.

As is often the case in stairs to attic spaces, the staircase featured a tight twist which required a complex transition piece to be designed and manufactured using Haldane 5 axis CNC expertise.

The end result is a truly stunning handrail and staircase which looks as though its an original feature of the home – the highest compliment which can be paid for a replacement project.
