""With five 5 axis CNC machines running to full capacity, we are one of the few companies in the UK that has the experience, the machining capability and the capacity to cope with such a project.""

Haldane UK’s commitment to quality and customer service has paid dividends by manufacturing and installing the timber handrails for the refurbishment of  Glasgow’s St Enoch Shopping Centre.
The £100million refurbishment of Glasgow’s leading shopping destination has seen significant upgrades to the timber specification with the 70mm diameter profile being changed to a 200mm x 45mm ellipse on a 15 degree angle and the timber changed from white beech to the luxurious American Black Walnut. Haldane’s touch of quality will provide the perfect backdrop to the new-look centre which now features a number of anchor stores including Virgin Media, Henley’s, PULP and Scotland’s only Hamleys outlet.Working in partnership with Annandale Design, Haldane installed over 400 linear metres of straight and 170 linear metres of curved handrail in the atrium and the food court areas as well as the handrail for the spiral stairs leading to the food court itself.

The angle of the handrail meant that every section required to be manufactured using Haldane UK’s 5 axis CNC expertise to be able to deliver a smooth continuous flow through the curved sections and in the spiral stair.

Haldane’s Managing Director, Forrester Adam, said “The refurbishment of St Enoch’s centre is without question the largest retail refurbishment of the year and we are delighted that our superior quality handrails are playing a key role in the project.”

He continued, “With five 5 axis CNC machines running to full capacity, we are one of the few companies in the UK that has the experience, the machining capability and the capacity to cope with such a project.”
