Staircase Refurbishment For Farmhouse

Haldane UK has transformed a traditional post to post stair by carrying out a complete staircase refurbishment using continuous American Black Walnut handrail and bespoke painted poplar spindles.

Haldane removed all of the newel posts to create a smooth flowing feel to the handrail which twists and turns to accommodate the tight winding nature of the stair well before finishing perfectly with a volute.

The existing treads and risers were clad with American Black Walnut and Haldane tied this in to the solid wooden floor.

Haldane UK’s Managing Director, Forrester Adam, commented “We have been highlighting the tendency to over use newel posts in staircases and this project demonstrates exactly what can be achieved.”

He continued, “By removing the newel posts which dominated the previous staircase, we have made the area feel more spacious and created a real feature out of what was a purely functional and rather mundane aspect of the home.”
