Haldane UK has enabled a client to return her Victorian House to its formerly glory by manufacturing and installing the traditional staircase to the exact specification as shown in the original drawings which were originally designed in 1897.

The house had previously been converted into two flats and Haldane had been commissioned to recreate the original staircase.

Haldane were able to ensure the staircase was historically accurate by working with drawings supplied by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and

Historical Monuments in Scotland, gaining access to neighbouring properties and carrying out a full digital survey.

The 180 degree staircase, manufactured from Douglas Fir, winds up onto a large half landing and features bespoke profile handrail, 55mm spindles and newel posts.

Haldane also recreated the original mouldings and décor tops to ensure it maintained its original authenticity. The bottom of the staircase features a double bullnose step with a wreathed handrail to create the perfect finish.

The end result is a stunning feature staircase which complements the property beautifully and delighted the client who wrote:

“The stair is absolutely beautiful. Thank you to all who were involved in the making.”
